Take Charge, For One and For Whole
At Orlando University, one primary guide is that the students are always in charge of their own studies, their direction, pace and approaches. As a doctoral or master student, one must learn quickly or adeptly be seated in the driver’s seat of his or her learning. Thus, as a “head” or “head leader” of one’s own learning, students must learn, think and act on what and how to pursue their studies from parts to the whole, and from the beginning to the end. The tutor serves only a coach, providing guidance, suggestions or helping to overcome obstacles when necessary or asked.
Unlike undergraduate study or many graduate programs, the students are required to be in charge as the head leader for conducting their learning, which should not only help students learn and do better during their formal educational stage, but also, and probably more importantly, help them to better lead in their lifelong learning, as well as the professional and personal journey of their lifetime.
